Meet the “imports”

Heathcote Cricket Club has long been a popular destination for cricketers from overseas. More often, than not, they come back. Some even stay (think Matthew House).

Meet this season’s imports, our overseas players. We asked them the following questions:

  1. Where are you from?

  2. What type of cricketer are you?

  3. What’s the best thing about Heathcote Cricket Club?

  4. When you grow up, what Heathcote player would you most like to be like and why?

  5. Which music genre do you prefer, Country or Western?

James Hamilton

1. London, England – Harefield CC

2. I bowl filthy medos (medium pace), and hide in the lower order as an insurance measure.

3. It has a pavilion, unlike every other park in Christchurch.

4. Charlie Grey, best bowler at Heathcote!

5. COUNTRY ROADDSSS, TAKE ME HOOOME...

Ben Meek

1. UK, Falmouth CC / Taunton Deane CC

2. I mainly bowl: seamer, medium pace.

3. How welcoming you’ve all been, both on and off the pitch. The Heathcote community has gone above and beyond to help all us imports settle in.

 4. Shaun Berryman – I wouldn’t mind having his superpower of dominating with the bat (30-run over at the death the other week) while operating on two hours sleep.

5. Rap

Matt McGladdery

1. Salford, Manchester. Play for Stand Cricket Club.

2. Bat and wicketkeep, mainly field though….

3. Feels like my club back home. Heavily community driven, with old members and families involved every day of the week. Makes for the best atmosphere and social side in the metro. The view isn’t too shabby either.

4. Graham “Gingles” Ingles; House in the hills, nets by himself, loves the beer, all around GOAT.

5. Country.

Andre Bradford

1. I grew up in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa but have lived in the UK for the last 5 years. I played for Swarkestone for the last 3 summers but will be moving to Shifnal for next year.

 2. I mainly open the batting but hoping Jamal will give me a bowl before the end of the season.

3. The people and the ground. Can’t ask for much more.

4. Don’t think I can say anyone except my landlord and resident dad, Gingles.

5. Country, but only when Dan Stanley is singing

Campbell Swanson

1. Edinburgh – Grange CC

2. Right-Handed Batsmen/Wicketkeeper – naturally aggressive but not afraid to knuckle down if the going gets tough.

3. Three Boys Beer (not a sponsored ad)

4. Tyler Lortan – for his skill with the bat and on the barbecue.

5. I exclusively listen to Bagpipes.

Philippe Boissevain

1. The Netherlands – Voorburg Cricket Club.

2. I mainly watch Tyler bat. When I’m lucky, I get to bat myself and when I’m feeling really good I sometimes bowl leg spinners.

3. The venue and the people.

4. I want to be like Ralph Bungard. How good is life if you are president of a beautiful club and brew some beer on the side as well?

5. None of the above, Dutch music. (Country only when Daniel Stanley sings)
