This plan has been adopted by Heathcote Cricket Club committee after consultation with members and affiliates.

Heathcote Cricket Club

1. ‘The best place for cricket’

2. Be the club everyone else wants to join

3. Competitive, friendly, welcoming, diverse, forward-thinking and innovative

4. Prioritise the club first, then teams, then individuals

5. Maintain stable, transparent leadership

6. Promote and acknowledge volunteer involvement

Cricket

7. Win a Christchurch Metro Premiership title by 2028 – centenary year (Dave Collier goal)

8. Strive to have Heathcote teams in top four men’s divisions

9. Women’s cricket - 2 Heathcote teams with aspiration to have a top grade women’s team

10. Maintain 8-12 Adult teams (no more than 12)

11. Grow back and maintain 8-10 Junior teams

12. Maintain 50-75 Friday night Junior cricketers and families

13. Provide and maintain pathway from Junior cricket to Adult cricket

14. Support lower grade teams and older players to keep enjoying cricket beyond their ‘peak’

Club and Community

15. Continue to be a positive and central part of the Heathcote Community

16. Maintain links with local schools and universities

17. Maintain links with cricket stakeholders – CMCA, Canty Cricket, NZC, CCC (grounds)

18. Maintain / improve playing and training facilities

19. Ensure adults and juniors are ‘one club’

20. Promote regular off field events – social functions etc

21. Supportive of members and their families

Financial

22. Heathcote Cricket Club is a ‘Not for Profit’ organisation

23. Stay amateur (i.e. run by volunteers). Specify paid cricket roles (if allocated funding exists)

24. Increase sponsorship to 50 percent of club’s total income

25. Maintain and promote our clubrooms as somewhere ‘people want to be’ – with modest bar profit

26. Actively seek funding through grants but strive to reduce financial risk from reliance on gaming funding

27. Subs - be better value than most other clubs

28. Actively encourage overseas players with support from external sources

29. Strive to provide uniforms/kit for juniors and adults through sponsorship and grants
