The Valley Tour Diaries #1

While the majority of our club faithful are currently getting their cricketing fix through the Ashes. It’s worth remembering that a few of our club members are in the middle of their overseas seasons, gaining new skills and experience to bring back to Heathcote cricket next season in our quest for silverware in 2023/24.

Quinn Bungard

Quinny has started his English summer with great pace on and off the park. Dining out on the Birmingham bowlers in 14 games striking 535 runs including two centuries. Adding another string to his bow, Quinn has also been rolling his arm over ( a sight that used to be reserved strictly for Chairman’s Cup games ) so far to good effect. Taking 8 wickets at an average of 9 including a best of 4/30.

Andre Bradford

Andre has got off to a swashbuckling start to his season in Sheffield. The highlight of this being a gem of an innings in which he struck ten maximums in on his way to 122 from 64 balls. 21 matches in his season so far have seen 782 runs at an average of 43 for Swarkstone CC. We can’t wait to have Andre back in Heathcote later this year.

Daniel Stanley

Five half centuries, One Hundred, 33 Maximums & 23 wickets with a best of 5/46, It sounds a bit like Dan doesn’t it? The century in particular was of the vintage Dan Stanley calibre that we’ve come to expect from the great man. 131 runs from 64 deliveries and ten maximums to lead his team to victory was an extraordinary effort. Performances like these combined with his ability to open the bowling in his Saturday league with his left arm swingers before switching to off spin on Sundays has drawn comparison to the great Andrew Symonds. Dan was last seen in a boat on the Amsterdam canal.

Fraser Bartholomew

Fraser has so far enjoyed the bouncy artificial tracks on offer in the Netherlands. Finishing 7th in the Topklasse 50 over bowling standings by claiming 16 wickets at and average of 18 with the ball, as well as striking a half century in his sides last 50 over outing before the T20 competition. Fraser has also recently taken over the captaincy of his side, as it was the only way to get him to pay attention in the field.

Philippe Bossevain

Flip has been a regular in the Netherlands A & Voorburg 1st XI this season and has been enjoying his teams success as they currently sit at the top of the Topklasse Cricket table. As the competition splits into championship and relegation pools, Flip will be looking forward fighting for silverware in Voorburg colours at the end of the season. He will also be training and pushing for selection in a Dutch squad bound for the 2023 50 Over World Cup.
