We profile our Club Captain Shaun Berryman as part of our series of club member profiles. We ask 11 questions and hope to get 11 good answers.
1. What is the best shot that you got out to?
The front foot pull shot- getting bounced out.
2. What’s your pre-game routine?
Nothing too special, often enjoy getting a coffee with a few teammates before the game.
3. Why does everybody like Shaun ?
Probably my good looks, general charm and overarching modesty (editors note: this may not be Shaun’s real answer)
4. Which current Heathcote Cricket Club player do you most want to grow up to be like?
I think it’s the one and only John Garry.
5. Which is your most memorable Heathcote moment (while clothed)?
I think winning a trophy is always memorable and I loved our 2nd XI T20 trophy win this year.
Also, was a great moment being apart of the team beating St Albans for the first time.
6. What is your second-favourite sport?
I do love Rugby, but it’s just too hard on the noggin.
7. If you could have any attribute of one of your team mates, what would it be?
I think it would have to be combination of Harry Sinclair’s rig and Dan Stanley’s voice.
8. Who is your favourite player in the competition to come up against?
Hardeep Singh, always a battle playing against Hardeep. Can be a nightmare coming up with a plan to dismiss him.
9. Drink of choice?
Vanilla latte
10. What is your personal cricketing highlight?
Scoring a century at home is pretty special.
11. Why do you play at Heathcote?
It’s a great club with a great mix and balance of players and supporters. It has a real heart-of-the-community feel and that is something special in a big city.
